In Memorium: Patty Andrews (1918-2013)

It was hard news to take learning about Patty Andrews of the Andrews Sisters passing. It's now truly an and end of an era, but the impact of the sisters' almost angelic 3 part harmony will live on forever.

  1. Truly is the end of an era.
Seeing the autograph of Patty has reminded me of a visit to a flea fair, where I burst out in tears because a couple of dealers had picked up an amazing autograph of the sisters for next to nothing- I was so upset that I had to walk away because I couldn’t stop the tears! I very rarely cry in such a manner, so I have no idea why I couldn’t control such emotions- how daft and embarrassing…. Anyway, there’s a bit of useless babble for you!

    1. I understand the feeling you speak of, it's the passion you have for that era and since you've become so devoted to it (like myself) it's more than a mere hobby, it's a way of life. I myself had similar emotional moment when I first tried selling a bulk of vintage menswear to a vintage store last year. I carried two big heavy shopping bags on the subway, had the store owner look through what I had to offer and wasn't interested in buying any of clothes, except for one next to nothing offer for a '50s Dacron suit. I felt defeated and very upset, but it was a learning experience for me. Useless babble? Nah, I always enjoy sharing vintage lifestyle experiences! I'm sure another autographed photo will come your way! Maybe even better than the one you saw!
